Jaguars to Cut Ticket Prices for the 2010 Season

Posted: 11 Jan 2010 06:31 PM PST

The Jaguars have cut ticket prices for 2010, hoping to lure back some of the 17,000 season-ticket holders who didn’t renew last year. The Jaguars have reduced season tickets in two sections in the upper deck by $90, reduced season tickets in four sections in the lower bowl by $100, and reduced season tickets in two club sections by $300. The moves could help the Jaguars boost sales and avoid blackouts. Jacksonville blacked out nine of 10 home games in 2009.

Seahawks Officially Bring Pete Carroll In As Their New Head Coach

Posted: 11 Jan 2010 04:37 PM PST

The Seattle Seahawks officially have their man, as today Pete Carroll was hired by the club as he said good-bye to his college program at USC. Carroll said the only reason he is leaving to become the Seahawks coach is because the challenge was too good to pass up.

“It hurts to separate,” Carroll said Monday in a press conference. The rah-rah coach was 97-19 with USC, and now comes to Seattle hoping to turn around a team that has had its struggles over the past two seasons after a run of NFC West titles and a Super Bowl run in 2005.

Carroll says his decision to leave has nothing to do with the investigation that the college program is currently under. He says he thought he would be at USC "forever."

Carroll's players were disappointed by the news. The group that straggled into Heritage Hall for an afternoon meeting chose USC largely on the strength of Carroll's success and charisma, but they returned to classes Monday with no idea what was next.

"I kind of didn't want to come to the meeting today, but it's something you've got to do," said tailback Allen Bradford. "How he got us training and competing, I don't think that's ever going to leave us. The new coach coming in is going to see this team is hungry and wants to win."

The 58-year-old Carroll comes to the Hawks after chief executive Tod Leiweke fired coach Jim Mora following just one season where the team went 5-11. Leiweke spent Sunday completing a deal with Carroll.

"We are excited to add Pete as our coach. He brings a great passion for winning and a positive attitude that is contagious," Leiweke said.
