Should St.Louis make a move for QB Tyler Thigpen? Posted: 16 Feb 2010 07:57 AM PST Here's a QB trade scenario I can support, one Mr. Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen threw from 2608 yards, 18 TDs and 12 INTs with Kansas City in 2008. He was persona non grata with the Chiefs after new head coach Todd Haley came in and was traded during the season to the Miami Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick. An undisclosed draft pick means it was very low. Just like the undisclosed (7th round) draft pick the Rams got for Tye Hill. But I digress. The Rams would absolutely take Thigpen's stat line from their quarterback in 2010. Kansas City had one great weapon on offense in 2008 in Tony Gonzalez and a bunch of questionable talents on offense. Sound familiar? The Rams have one great weapon in Steven Jackson and a bunch of questionable talents. Thigpen played better with Kansas City than his much more heralded replacement, Matt Cassell. The Miami Dolphins have their quarterback of the present and future in Chad Henne and their 2nd quarterback and wildcat artist, Pat White. Any other quarterback on their roster would be designated the 3rd inactive quarterback. Thus, Thigpen is expendable. Buffalo Rumblings sees Miami wanting more than a late 3rd for Thigpen. Would the Rams 1st pick in the 3rd round be too much for Thigpen? Thigpen is a young veteran and exactly the type of player the Rams should be adding. He's a solid quarterback, which would be a big step for the Rams. He is more than likely a bridge quarterback to a talented future quarterback, but Thigpen is a much longer bridge and the Rams can afford to wait on a project quarterback or two. |
