Rams eyeing Ndamukong Suh with the #1 overall pick in the draft

Posted: 20 Feb 2010 11:46 AM PST

The draft news and rumors are coming hot and heavy these days and we have not even gotten to the Combine.  Ah yes, the number 1 pick is always fodder for every news cycle.  This time it is a report from ESPN that the Rams scouts love Ndamukong Suh at the number 1 selection.

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports that Rams scouts "are becoming increasingly convinced" that Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh is the best player in the draft.
Pasquarelli acknowledges that it's a "relatively close call" between Suh and Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy, but the Rams reportedly believe that Suh has the potential to make Chris Long and Adam Carriker better. Drafting Suh to play the "three technique" position next to NT Cliff Ryan might allow the Rams to move Carriker out to end on early downs, helping the team's run defense. Carriker, though, wouldn't be a big sack threat rushing off the edge.

I have to admit that if Adam Carriker finds his form that got him drafted in the first round, this would be a very formidable defensive line that would easily consume blockers and opposing running backs.  This line would allow James Laurainitis to roam free at middle linebacker without having a guard on him at all times.

Cribbs set for a big payday from the Browns

Posted: 20 Feb 2010 11:41 AM PST

Cribbs

The Browns best player since they have come back, Josh Cribbs, should be getting a deal, that should pay him between 5 to 10 million guaranteed. That is what the Browns and Cribbs are nailing out to finalize the deal. They will rip up his current deal that has three years left, and give him the new deal which has the same length.

When Cribbs and his agents came out right after Holmgren just got here and said they thought Cribbs played his last down with the Browns, I was disappointed in him with the timing, with Holmgren only being here three days and him coming out like he did.

After watching highlights of the past season to get my Browns fix for the time being, Josh Cribbs is unbelievable I know I would never be a good GM because I think with my heart to much but I am glad this situation is about to end. Cribbs is the Man!!!

Cribbs is the best player on the Browns and could be the best play maker in the Game, he is on his way to the top. With a little help on offense the Browns could really put up some numbers next season and at least make the team competitive the whole season. Josh Cribbs can does everything for this team from Kick Return to being the first player to make a tackle on a kickoff. It is honor for all of us to watch Cribbs play every Sunday wearing the Brown and Orange.

Cribbs could be the next Browns player that's Jersey is retired. He is proud to put the Orange helmet on and loves playing in front of the best fans in the NFL. Cribbs is always seen at Cleveland events and you never hear anything negative coming from Cribbs in the off season or during the Season. I know all of you Browns fans remember those runs against Pittsburgh my favorite being the run where he took the ball in front of the Steeler bench out of the Wildcat broke numerous tackles and ran for 37 yards and the Steelers didn't know what hit them.

The Browns need Josh Cribbs to keep his numbers after he gets his contract and there is no reason to believe he won't. I am so glad the Browns are about to "Pay the Man!!!"

Taking a look at some of the recent NFL 2010 Mock Drafts

Oklahoma Texas Bradford Hurt Football

Some more mocks out for you to persue:

Mel Kiper: Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas

My take: Not a fan of Kindle, and think that if the Giants are going to go linebacker (as Kiper has him listed) I don't see them going outside linebacker. We have Sergio Kindle–his name is Clint Sintim. Read Jesse's profile here

Todd McShay: Brian Price, DT, UCLA

My take: Fan of Price. Think he would fit well in Blue. Read Jesse's profile here

Walter Football: Brian Price, DT, UCLA

My take: See Above

Draft Countdown: Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama

My take: Huge fan of McClain. Think he would start on Day 1. Tremendous talent. Comes from a winning program. Read Jesse's profile here

Pro Football Talk: Earl Thomas, S, Texas

My take: In terms of prospects as fits for the Giants, it's McClain 1, Thomas 1a. Could be equal. Both fill needs, and both could start on Day 1. I'd be excited about a Thomas Phillips safety crew. Read Jesse's profile here.

Vikings McKinnie to have to pay back the league for Pro Bowl behavior

Vikings McKinnies Test Football

The NFL handed down their punishment to Bryant McKinnie for his recent behavior that got him booted from the NFC's Pro Bowl team.

McKinnie is being forced to forfeit his $22,500 game check that Pro Bowl players receive and also has to pay back $4,285.13 for reimbursed costs.  So, essentially McKinnie will be out about twenty-seven grand.

Thanks NFL… now clubbers everywhere will be going thirsty and Miami strippers won't be able to pay their rent.  Geesh!

It is thought that the NFL's Competition Committee will explore options for dealing with these type of Pro Bowl incidents in this future.

Pats want a pass rusher; but it won’t be Dolphins Taylor

Posted: 20 Feb 2010 10:54 AM PST

Taylor
The Patriots are looking for someone to get to the quarterback in 2010, and the big rumor is that they will go hard after the Panthers Julius Peppers. Another name on the list though is that of the Dolphins Jason Taylor, but the Boston Herald reports that it appears that Taylor is not going to be available:

Ian Rapoport of The Boston Herald reports the Patriots list of potential pass-rushers to acquire starts with Panthers Pro Bowler Julius Peppers, then continues to include a whole slew of soon-to-be drafted players, somewhere in the middle, maybe, is Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor. Coach Bill Belichick has not been shy about his love for Taylor but life just got a little difficult for the former NFL defensive MVP and Dancing with the Stars winner. According to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Taylor just underwent shoulder surgery that will keep him out for three months which it means it’ll be the middle of May before he could actually work out for teams.
