Steelers HOF QB Terry Bradshaw blasts current signal caller Ben Roethlisberger

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 11:50 AM PDT

In this latest bashing Ben video, former Steeler QB and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw takes his shots at the current Steeler QB, saying that when he told the QB to “park the motorcycle, he got pissed. Alright? Then he had the accident. And since then, there’s, you know… he doesn’t like me, and I’m learning not to like him.” A very worthwhile 3:30 to take in.

NFL Schedule to be announced Tuesday

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 11:15 AM PDT

The NFL has announced it will release the 2010 NFL regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 20th, at 7 pm ET on NFL.com and NFL Network to kick off Draft Week. Opponents for all 32 teams have been known since the close of the 2009 regular season. NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to Sports Illustrated that they were shooting for the release of the 2010 NFL regular season schedule by later this week or early next week at the latest.

How High of a Priority is the Offensive Line in the Draft for the Eagles?

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 10:08 AM PDT

Eagles offensive line

The Eagles have plenty of young talent at their skill positions on offense; however, they cannot be successful without an effective offensive line. Most analysts have the Eagles taking a defensive player in the first round, but there are some who have the Eagles taking an offensive lineman. We know Andy loves his lineman, but should that be the number one priority come draft day?

Taking a look at the offensive line now, there are plenty of question marks. You have Jason Peters and Winston Justice at the tackle positions. Peters is a so-called Pro Bowler and Justice made huge strides last year that led him to a new contract. There isn't a ton of talented depth behind them so the Eagles could definitely use another talented tackle.

On the interior, you have Todd Herremans and Stacy Andrews as your projected starting guards. Andrews hasn't show much of anything since arriving in Philadelphia, so I definitely have to put a big question mark behind him. Nick Cole has been a great depth player bouncing around to different positions and filling in well. He may be forced into the starting center job this season and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Jamaal Jackson is a big question mark after his ACL injury last year, and that's a big problem for the Eagles.

The Eagles will definitely have some offensive lineman on their radar come draft day, but I just don't feel they should pull the trigger on anyone the first day. Interior lineman are never drafted early and there appears to be some nice depth in this years pool of offensive tackles. As much as Andy may like to grab ahold of a stud lineman early, I hope he plans on addressing defensive needs first.

Report: Rams Should Trade For Redskins QB Campbell

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 10:00 AM PDT

The Bleacher Report has Jason Campbell listed as the most buzzed about trade option in the NFL this morning… as well they should.  Here is what they have to say on the matter of trading Campbell to a team (post McNabb) who is more in need of a starting QB than Washington who now has their pick of three:

Ever since the Redskins acquired Donovan McNabb on Easter Sunday, Campbell's name has be floating around in various trade talk.

With teams like the Bills, Rams, Panthers, and Seahawks all needing more help at the position, Campbell could be wearing new colors very soon.

The Rams would be the smartest team to make a move on Campbell in my opinion, since he can instantly be a starter for only a third or fourth-round pick, and then the Rams can mess up all mocks and draft boards by selecting one of the top two defensive tackles instead.

If the Rams traded Campbell for a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth — you know what IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!    The Redskins need all the picks they can get this draft since they only have a first, fourth, and fifth round pick to speak of in 2010.

Great god almighty, trade the man so you can fortify your other positions!!

Geez, I sound like I'm playing Risk….

Rams new owner’s way forward

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 09:56 AM PDT

With Stan Kroenke's 11th hour bid to purchase the Rams, the only thing on everyone's mind is: how the heck is this guy going to get certified by the NFL?  Kroenke owns multiple sports franchises in the Denver, Colorado area and so is not permitted to purchase the majority of an NFL team.  This however, we do know:

  • Kroenke is already the majority owner of the Rams.  The NFL defines the majority owner as the single person who that owns the highest percentage of the franchise, as long as that percentage is over 30%.  Kroenke owns 40% of the Rams.  As Georgia Frontiere's even heirs to her Rams ownership, Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriquez each own 30%.    So, technically, Kroenke is already the majority owner.
  • Kroenke could pass or sell his ownership of the Colorado Avalanche and the Denver Nuggets to his wife or another family member.  This rule was famously circumvented by the Debartalo Family in which one sibling owned the San Francisco 49ers and another owned the Pittsburgh Penguins, all overseen by their father.
  • The NFL could change their rule on the matter.  The NFL has changed many ownership rules over the years, including the issue of NFL owners owning other sports franchises, even in the same city.  The NFL is not against changing rules, which it does frequently.  However, the Commissioner has said in the past he will not change the ruling for Kroenke.

Stan Kroenke did not put in this bid to be denied and I'm sure he has something up his sleeve that will make sure that he will be the next owner of the Rams.  What do you think?  Will Kroenke be certified by the NFL?

Free agent CB Lito Sheppard talking to NFC North squads

Posted: 14 Apr 2010 09:53 AM PDT

In the midst of walking my dogs, brewing coffee, and eating my Wheaties I noticed a quick blurb on the NFL Network.

Lito Sheppard is visiting the Lions soon, but they also said the Vikings and the Bears could have interest in his services.

At age 29, it is unclear what type of market Sheppard is finding himself in.  He is not the typical cornerback the Vikings like to peruse, given that he has a tendency to make a splashy play and then get burned for long yardage or a score.

The Vikings interest probably does not run too deep, and I suspect another team will easily outbid them for Sheppard's services.
