When Starting A Forum It’s Important To Communicate With Members Posted: 22 May 2010 05:43 AM PDT I don’t join a lot of forums as they can be quite addictive and I don’t get much work done when I am in forums all day long. I don’t start forums myself because I know I would not likely keep it up and active which is an absolute must for the forum success. Really it’s up to the forum owner to get the ball rolling and to keep active. Why? Well, it helps members see that the owner takes an interest, otherwise why do they have the forum, right. I joined Maritimes Fishing, a new fishing forum which excited me because it’s specific to the Maritimes. I live and fish in New Brunswick Canada and it’s nice to see people take an interest. At the time of this writing they have just over 20 members. I left an introduction in the intro section, that was almost 2 weeks ago. I haven’t had even one response to my introduction or for that matter any of the posts I have left. I would have thought that at least the forum owner would have taken a minute from his busy day to respond with at least a thanks for joining, but nope, couldn’t be bothered. I have had exactly one response and that was from a personal friend. None of the other members even bothered to say welcome or to respond to my posts. Guess I will find another forum to join and see if I can cancel my membership here. Sometimes it can be so lonely, even in a group. Hopefully the forum owner will take more of an interest in his forum as it grows. |
