How the Experts Shape Up the Ravens Posted: 31 May 2010 07:28 PM PDT Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. We at Ravens Gab hope that all our fans take time over this weekend to honor those that have served our country. Where are the Ravens ranked in the NFL Power Rankings? Most analysts have the team positioned in the top eight, some as high as third on the list. Listed are recent rankings and analysis from around the web. …Tell us, Where do you think the Ravens should be ranked? Peter King, Sports Illustrated Peter King ranks the Ravens 3rd! 1. Green Bay 2. San Diego 3. Baltimore "I think the Ravens have hit a few home runs this offseason, and those moves could carry them to the AFC Championship Game….On defense, I wish I saw something better at cornerback….Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison obviously has to be hoping for it to be third- and-long so often (with a great run-stuffing front) that he doesn't have to worry about the more than occasional coverage error downfield." sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/05/16/ranking/
Pat Kirwin, NFL.com Kirwin has a tier system, as teams 1-6 will be a "lock" to make the playoffs. Tier 1 includes Indianapolis, Saints, Minnesota, Dallas, San Diego, and Green Bay. Tier 2 are teams who "should" make the playoffs. The Ravens are listed as a second Tier team, 8th on the list. Tier 2 7. New York Jets 8. Baltimore Ravens 9. New York Giants 10. New England Patriots 11.San Francisco 49ers "The Ravens finally got Joe Flacco some receiver help and he is ready to get the ball to Anquan Boldin and Donte' Stallworth when teams overplay Ray Rice and the run game. I still wonder about Baltimore's cornerbacks and the pass defense." www.nfl.com ESPN Ranks the Ravens 7th. 1. New Orleans Saints 2. Indianapolis 3. Minnesota Vikings 4. San Diego Chargers 5. Dallas Cowboys 6. Green Bay Packers 7. Baltimore Ravens http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings Fox Sports Ranks the Ravens in the 7th spot. "OFFSEASON DIAGNOSIS: It was another solid playoff run for Baltimore, but I don't think Ray Lewis is satisfied with an Elite Eight appearance in the NFL playoffs. With future Hall of Famer Ed Reed considering retirement due to lingering neck issues, the window for the dominant defense may be closing." http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings CBS Sports On May 11th, Pete Prisco of CBS sports ranked the Ravens in the 11th spot. In this ranking they fall behind the Eagles? "They've had a nice offseason, adding some key pieces like receiver Anquan Boldin. That should help the passing game. That will put more on Joe Flacco's plate." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/powerrankings USAtoday.com Has the Ravens ranked 3rd! 1-Indy 2-New Orleans Saints 3. Baltimore Ravens 4-NY Jets 5-Dallas Cowboys 6-Minnesota Vikings http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-power-rankings.htm Walterfootball.com Walter Football is impressed with the Ravens ranking them 4th. "Joe Flacco goes from having Derrick Mason …to Mason, Anquan Boldin, Donte' Stallworth, Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. Oh, and let's not forget that Ray Rice is coming out of the backfield…" http://walterfootball.com/nflpowerrankings.php |
Bengals WR Ochocinco makes a Childs Dream come True Posted: 31 May 2010 07:25 PM PDT It seems so many people around the league like to criticize Chad Ochocinco, including many Bengals fans and observers. He tends to grate people with his thirst for the spotlight and his endzone celebrations. Some have called into question is commitment to football, as evidenced by his recent stint on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, and his new VH1 reality show, which started production today. However, Doug Farr over at Yahoo! Sports (and through NFL Network) has showed us once again that despite what you make think of Chad the football player, there is not much negative to be said about Chad the human being. Chad recently personally attended the recent Children Mending Hearts annual gala, and made one homeless boy's dream come true. Check out the link and watch the emotionally touching video. No one is perfect, and Chad has certainly made his mistakes along the way. But the truth is that underneath the glitz, the glamour and the craving of attention, Chad is a kind-hearted and genuine human being. Thank you Chad, for representing the Bengals, the city of Cincinnati, and yourself the way you do. Donate to the Children Mending Hearts fund here. |
Steelers QB Roethlisberger to be back with the team Tuesday Posted: 31 May 2010 12:01 PM PDT
The quarterback was suspended without pay for six games last month by commissioner Roger Goodell after a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault in Georgia. Roethlisberger underwent a behavioral evaluation as part of the suspension, which could be reduced to four games by Goodell, who will review the case again before the regular season. If the suspension is reduced to four games, he would return for a home matchup with the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 17. |
