Ellison Already Cut by Seattle, Which Could Be an Issue for Chargers Posted: 26 Jun 2010 06:46 PM PDT On Monday, the Chargers released former starting safety Kevin Ellison after he was recently arrested for drug possession. The next day, he was claimed off of waivers by the Seattle Seahawks and his former college coach, Pete Carroll. However, just yesterday, the Seahawks decided to waive Ellison. He was not waived because of performance issues or worry about him being suspended, but instead because he was unable to pass the Seahawks' physical… Now, I'm pretty sure that Ellison has been participating in Chargers' off-season workouts for awhile now after they allowed him to return. He needed to pass a physical by the Chargers in order to participate, and yet now that he is up in Seattle, he was unable to do so again. Now that Ellison has been released, the Chargers have been inserted into a situation where some sort of injury grievance could be a possibility. Since it seems that the Chargers released him while he was injured, Ellison could be able to receive all or part of his 2010 salary, causing even more problems for GM A.J. Smith to wrap his sometimes-clouded mind around. There seems to be something fishy going on up in Seattle. An article from Pro Football Talk also looks into the possibility of some sort of conspiracy involving Ellison and Carroll. As the situation continues to unravel, we'll see just how much of a headache this will become for Smith and the Chargers. |
Packers Woodson Uses Boxing to Stay in Shape Posted: 26 Jun 2010 05:33 PM PDT Memo to offenses: The NFL's Defensive MVP from last year is in better shape heading into the 2010 season. Packers cornerback Charles Woodson has never been known to be out of shape but still, he kicked it up a notch this offseason. Woodson teamed up with Green Bay safety Nick Collins to take a boxing class. The result? At age 33, Woodson says he's in the best shape of his career.
Despite what Rex Ryan and the New York media says, Woodson deserved to win Defensive MVP and he looks primed for another big season. Opposing quarterbacks, you've been warned. |
Former Vikings and Cardinals Coach Dennis Green Doesn’t Plan on a Return to the NFL Posted: 26 Jun 2010 05:32 PM PDT There are still plenty of Vikings fans that would love to see Brad Childress replaced as the head coach of the Vikings. There probably aren't too many that long for the coaching decisions of Dennis Green, however, and those people mustn't worry.
The entire article can be viewed here, and I have to say that Green's comments about the 1998 Championship loss, the role of the UFL, and a few other topics is quite the interesting read. |
