Charges Against Broncos Dumervil Dismissed Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:38 PM PDT
He had been cited with assault and disturbing the peace following an argument with a parking lot attendant at Invesco Field at Mile High prior the Broncos' game Oct. 24 against the Oakland Raiders. The incident occured when Dumervil forgot his player credential and was not allowed in by the parking attendant. Dumervil, who missed the entire season following surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, made a cell-phone call to a team official and was quickly cleared to enter, but the parking lot attendant filed a complaint. ""He never should have been charged in the first place," said Harvey Steinberg, Dumervil's attorney. ""And the press coverage should be the same not that his case has been dismissed as when he was charged." |
Colts Freeney Reaches a Six-Figure Settlement with Babyface’s Ex Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:34 PM PDT Colts superstar Dwight Freeney just reached a SIX-FIGURE settlement with his landlord — who also happens to be the ex-wife of legendary music producer Babyface. It all started back in December, when Freeney’s landlord Tracey Edmonds — who also dated Eddie Murphy — filed a $400,000 lawsuit against him, claiming Freeney bilked her out of 11 months rent … on two floors in her famous Edmonds Tower building in Hollywood. According to the lawsuit, Freeney agreed to pay $37,500 per month for the space — which he used for his recording studio — but failed to pay more than one installment. Now, it’s all water under the bridge — Tracey’s lawyer tells TMZ, Dwight settled for six-figures … and that’s that. |
NFL Reinstates Lions’ Seventh-Round Pick Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:29 PM PDT The Lions have confirmed they will get back the seventh round pick they lost as punishment for tampering with a Chiefs player under contract in 2009 according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News. The pick, which the Lions acquired from the Broncos, will be second of the seventh round (No. 202 overall) and will give them a total of six in this year’s draft (April 28-30). The Lions will forfeit either their sixth or seventh pick in the 2012 draft, depending on whether they make or miss the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, they lose their sixth pick; miss the playoffs and they lose their seventh. Also, the previously-enforced swap of fifth-round picks with the Chiefs (from No. 140 to No. 154) remains in place. |
Former Miami QB Pennington Tears ACL In Pickup Game, Out For Year Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:23 PM PDT Former Dolphins backup quarterback Chad Pennington has found himself suffering through yet another season ending injury, only this time it has nothing to do with his throwing shoulder. Pennington tore his ACL today in a pickup game of basketball, and is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair it on April 7th. Pennington was trying to make a comeback this season yet again, but like numerous times before, he was set back by a season-ending inury. It's a shame this time though, because multiple teams were reportedly interested in bringing Pennington on to be in contention for their starting quarterback spot. Pennington will be 36 next season, when he will next be able to play, so retirement will be one of the first decisions that he will mull over. |
Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez Talking Retirement Due to Lockout Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:21 PM PDT
“Would I sit out a whole season and come back — probably not, honestly,” Gonzalez, 35, told Sporting News. "At this point, at my age, I don't know if that would be smart of me to do something like that. But I'm enjoying the offseason, working out and preparing like I always do.” “I think it might cut into camp,” Gonzalez said of the labor dispute. "Into the season, I doubt it. Who knows though? Hopefully we can get these issues resolved. The arguments from the owners' perspective are a little outrageous to me. It's the No. 1 game in the world. “I think there are so many ways you could structure a deal. Maybe there are too many chiefs, not enough Indians. Maybe we should get one or two representatives from each side to hammer it out. But between the owners and the players, that's a lot of different opinions and that's why the process is going so slow. That's why I don't think it's going to be resolved anytime soon. But I just don't see an entire season being taken away. That would be sad. Not just for the players and the owners, but the fans.” |
