The Cardinals were one of arguably 12 teams who entered last month's draft in need of help at quarterback. But the Cardinals bucked the trend — four teams took QBs in the top 12 picks, and six went in the first two rounds – looking to fill the void elsewhere.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt called taking LSU CB Patrick Peterson over the quarterbacks available (namely Blaine Gabbert) at No. 5 "really an easy decision."

"We didn't want to panic and make a decision because we had a need at that position," Whisenhunt told Rich Eisen. "We stayed true to our process preparing for the draft, knowing that we would have an opportunity to address (quarterback) if it wasn't available in the draft. We're very comfortable that there are a couple of guys out there that we think we'll have an opportunity to get, and it will help make our football team better."

Some of the logical options often connected to the Cardinals are trades for Carson Palmer, Kevin Kolb or Kyle Orton, as well as pending free agents Marc Bugler or Matt Hasselbeck.

Reggie Bush spoke at his annual youth football camp which is held at Tulane University in New Orleans, putting to bed any speculation and rumors as to whether or not he wishes to play another season for the Saints or not.

Bush reportedly said, "I would love to retire here if possible . I would love to play for the Saints for however long my career, God-willing, allows me to play. First and foremost, I want to be a Saint."

His statement comes just after he recently riled up thousands of Saints fans with some controversial tweets that started on draft day and continued up until the earlier part of this week. For many, his tweets dug deep into the heart of Who Dat Nation, which had welcomed him with open arms and made him part of the family.

Yet, while he garnered the attention of sports writers from every possible venue (for better or worse), his words stung those to whom he'd managed to endear himself over the years. For Saints fans, it became personal.

Dan Pompei of the National Football Post reports it is believed a number of teams already have handshake agreements in place with undrafted free agents, and the big whigs on Park Avenue are not happy about it.

In fact, the league is investigating the situation by questioning undrafted players. Fines could be forthcoming. The NFL expressly told teams they were not even allowed to contact players during the draft and tell them they would like to sign them as free agents.

Offensive Shake-Up Could Mean Fewer Fullbacks For Packers This Season: A season ago, the Green Bay Packers took an unusual configuration of running backs, fullbacks and tight ends into their season opener at Philadelphia. GM Thompson gave coach McCarthy only two halfbacks– Grant and Jackson–to start the season and for the second straight year overloaded on fullbacks, keeping three–Kuhn, Hall and Johnson. He also kept four tight ends–Finley, Lee, Crabtree and Quarless. When or if the season opens this year, the configuration could look quite a bit different. Thompson surprisingly went heavy on tight ends in draft.

Packer Pays For Students’ Prom As Part Of Fundraiser: Packers running back Grant and his girlfriend attended the junior prom of Burlington’s Catholic Central High School at Hawk’s View Country Club in Lake Geneva on Friday night. In March, Grant met with juniors from the high school and made them a deal. If the students volunteered their time at Grant’s Ryan4Ryan Celebration and donated all the money they had raised for the prom, Grant would pick up the tab for their formal event.

Packers Focus On Banter, Not Business At Tailgate Tour Finale: There were no brazen statements, no bashing the other side. The only admission anyone was going to get was Packers president Murphy saying he was very disappointed the NFL lockout had gotten to this point. Packers ended their five-day, statewide Tailgate Tour at Green Bay East High School. The event was moved inside from City Stadium because of lousy weather. A handful of current and former Packers joked with Murphy about Gilbert Brown never bringing out the Gravedigger again. They respectfully offered Brett Favre an olive branch.

Packers TE Finley ‘feels brand new: TE Finley was carted off the field during a game last October and never played another down. Finley took to Twitter on Thursday, this time to provide an encouraging update on the status of his surgically-repaired right knee.

Packers CB Harris to get a Super Bowl ring: Al Harris didn’t play a part in the Packers’ run to the Super Bowl last season, but the organization has made it clear his past contributions to the team aren’t forgotten. Packers president Mark Murphy confirmed on Thursday that the longtime Green Bay cornerback will receive a Super Bowl ring despite being released by the team during the regular season.

Packers management, players unite for annual tailgate tour: Amid the acrimony of the NFL lockout, Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy launched the team’s annual Tailgate Tour Tuesday, with players Josh Sitton, Desmond Bishop and Matt Flynn that they insist won’t be awkward.

Four-ever: Pack to retire Favre’s jersey: Just a few days after former quarterback Brett Favre declared that he was exploring his post-retirement options, his former team, the Green Bay Packers, announced they will retire his number, according the Green Bay Press Gazette.
