The Cardinals with Interest in Kyle Orton; a Move They Should Make Posted: 03 Jun 2011 05:15 PM PDT
Many have felt that the Cards have been high on Eagles backup Kevin Kolb, but now it seems that the team has somewhat soured on the idea of taking Kolb and may be focused in on Orton, who the Broncos seem willing to ship for the right price. The price for Kolb may have to be a first round pick, while for Orton the team may only have to ship maybe a second and a third or something along those lines. Orton last season threw for 3653 yards with 20 touchdowns and 9 picks for the Broncos, but the team seems more bent on giving Tim Tebow, last years first-round pick, a long look at training camp. Arizona should do what they can to get Orton, he has shown he can win in both Chicago and Denver, and he is going to cost a ton less than Kolb, who has still yet to prove he can win in this league week in and week out. |
Falcons QB Matt Ryan Becoming the Leader On and Off the Field Posted: 03 Jun 2011 04:14 PM PDT
Matt Ryan has been the leader in that department this summer, as the veteran QB has taken the role of team leader, putting together workouts that have included vets as well as young guys like rookie Julio Jones, the teams first round pick. “It’s been good. It depends on who’s in town. We are fortunate that a lot of guys are here during the offseason,” Ryan said about players showing up. “At certain times people have to go do some family stuff at this time of the year and we understand that they are not going to be here. But I think the turnout has been very good.” Atlanta needs this type of commitment from players based on the bad taste in their mouths from last seasons playoff collapse against the Packers. If Mike Smith and Ryan are going to be two men that eventually lead this team to the promise land, it’s got to be done with action. Ryan this offseason has shown that, putting in the effort to get the players together, even if it’s just for an hour or so to workout and try to run some plays. “Our urgency is the same,” Ryan said. “Our sense of timing is that we’re going to be playing at the beginning of September. … As players we need to prepare ourselves to get ready to go.” The more time that the team puts in working on timing and being together, the more it’s going to pay off once the owners and players get on the same page and get a deal done. |
Titans Players Expected to Be in Full Force for Next Weeks Workouts Posted: 03 Jun 2011 11:52 AM PDT
In recent weeks the largest turnout has been 17 players — that was on Thursday. "Hopefully 40-plus will (turn out),'' linebacker Gerald McRath said of the upcoming minicamp. "We've confirmed a lot of guys and are trying to get in touch with the rookies. We are trying to get everybody out here. It is going to be huge as far as the older guys teaching the younger guys. Everything we do next week is going to help us in the long run." Cornerback Cortland Finnegan has been one of the ringleaders in gathering players throughout the offseason. The Titans plan to work in one-on-one situations, and in seven-on-seven drills, Finnegan said. "Players just want to gauge where other players are at, and we want to make sure everyone is working,'' Cortland Finnegan said. "We need to come together as a team, too. We have a lot of uncertainty in the Titans organization and with all the coaching changes and scheme changes, it will be nice to laugh with one another." |
Buccaneers CB Barber Wants Team to Keep Aqib Talib Posted: 03 Jun 2011 06:16 AM PDT
There have been reports the Bucs are ready to cut Talib loose which have been refuted by head coach Raheem Morris. Barber agreed that any notion of cutting Talib was a bad idea. "It's doing a disservice to him," Barber said. "We're prepared [to play without Talib], but you don't ever want to play a season or even a game without that guy. He's that good. He changes things. He takes [receivers] away and we've never had that in Tampa. He can literally take a guy away. He had his mental lapses last year and gave up some plays, but we've never had a guy like him. He's a gamer. Not only is he big, physical and fast, he's technically sound, which a lot of guys in this league just aren't.” |
