Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Arrives in Philadelphia to Chat with Team Posted: 08 Aug 2011 04:40 AM PDT
Jackson declined to take questions on Sunday. Jackson’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, accompanied him. Jackson will very likely report to camp at Lehigh University today, since players under contract who haven't reported to their team's training camp by Tuesday do not receive a year of accrued pension credit — and that means they don't become free agents after four years. |
Are the Titans Willing To Negotiate With RB Johnson Without Him Practicing? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 04:31 AM PDT
"We've asked him to come in. He has a contract," Reinfeldt said Saturday. "As far as practicing, that's something we can work out. It's important to be here and attend the meetings. We're not asking to put him in harm's way either. There's a subtlety there that's part of it." Reinfeldt said he sent a letter to Johnson’s agent requesting that his client return to training camp, but stated he hasn't received a response. Johnson began his holdout at the start of training camp and is being fined $30,000 for each day he misses. "They're just not sure they want to do that at this point in time," Reinfeldt told The Tennessean. Johnson seems determined to earn more than his scheduled $1 million this season, but the Titans have refused to budge — yet. |
Patriots Agree To Terms With DL Shaun Ellis Posted: 08 Aug 2011 04:24 AM PDT
The deal is contingent upon Ellis passing a physical. Ellis, 34, has spent his entire 11-year career with the New York Jets, who selected the former Tennessee standout in the first-round of the 2000 NFL Draft. The two-time Pro Bowler (2003, 2009) has started 156 of his 170 career games, totaling 499 tackles and 72.5 quarterback sacks. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Ellis has played both defensive tackle and defensive end during his career. That versatility, along with his experience, should appeal to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who has offered indications that the team intends to once again use multiple fronts this season. |
Giants First-Round Pick CB Amukamara Out Indefinitely With Broken Bone In Foot Posted: 07 Aug 2011 06:21 AM PDT
According to the team, the 19th overall pick out of Nebraska broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. The injury will require surgery, and no official timetable for his return was disclosed. The last of the 254 players chosen in this year’s draft to come to terms on a contract, Amukamara agreeing to four-year, $8.18 million contract, which includes $7.485 million in guarantees, on Thursday before hitting the practice field on Friday. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said on Friday that the team planned to ease him into the on-field action, with the focus being on learning the playbook. “I think you've got to give him the terminology first so that he has the understanding and there is nothing he is confused with from a verbalization standpoint,” Coughlin said. “He has a lot of classroom work to make up for. You figure four hours a day in the classroom since we have been here.” |
Cardinals SS Adrian Wilson May Have Torn Muscle, Will Undergo MRI Posted: 07 Aug 2011 06:19 AM PDT
Safety Adrian Wilson's Red-White practice ended early due to some sort of biceps or elbow injury. Details of the injury were not released, and probably will not surface until Monday, after an MRI has been performed. Wilson's loss for any amount of time will have a huge effect on the defense Ray Horton plans in running. The defense is expected to run a high pressure, blitz heavy scheme, especially from Wilson's position. Should he miss significant time, the Cardinals will also lose one of its most important leaders. Arizona re-signed Matt Ware, pending a physical, suggesting that Wilson may miss more time than anyone hopes for. |
Oakland Comes to Terms with WR Chad Jackson Posted: 07 Aug 2011 06:16 AM PDT
Hamstring and groin injuries plagued Jackson for much of his rookie season, where he was limited to just 13 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. Jackson tore an ACL in the AFC Championship Game, which kept him out for much of the 2007 season, well. |
