The days I took my son Stephen fishing were about the happiest times I've had with Steve because other than fishing I spent my time working, too much actually. Now he's all grown up and moved thousands of miles away which will make it tough to do any fishing together now.
The image top left is a day we took the float tubes to fish for smallmouth bass and it's the first smallie Steve ever caught. It was a perfect day and no one else was around, just me and my bud.
I was on my Joy of Fishing Facebook page this morning going through my friends to see what kinds of adventures they're having.
I wish I had been able to use a camera when Stephen was with me trout fishing from my canoe off the Shepody road 20 some years ago. We had so much fun and got caught in the rain storm of the century.
Okay maybe it wasn't the rain storm of the century but it was the hardest rain my little buddy had ever been out in, especially in a canoe. But it was raining so hard that all we could do was laugh and try to get back to the Samurai before we sank. Good thing we brought extra dry clothes, just in case we fell in the water.
For Steve's first day of fishing we went on a picnic next to a trout stream on one of my favourite scenic roads next to Fundy Park. Between eating and exploring he managed to catch his first brook trout.
I can hardly wait for the day he gives us a grandchild we can take fishing together.
Last year’s Big Brothers Fun Fishing Tournament was enjoyed by young and old as members of the Saint John Muskie Club shared their time on the water with kids. My friend and fishing buddy Casey sent me a couple of images of one young fella having the time of his life.
This young fella had a great time but he wasn’t quite ready to hold that first bass, however by the second bass he was ready, willing and able.
